Replica of the German Stielhandgranate M43 hand grenade
Made from wood
Fuse parts – metal and plastic
Stielhandgranate – German fragmentation, anti-personnel, offensive hand grenade with a wooden handle. Could be converted to defensive with a “shirt”
The grenade was intended primarily to defeat the enemy’s manpower with fragments and a shock wave.
The Soviet soldiers got the nickname “mallet”, the English-speaking allies – “masher” (English “potato masher”, that is, “potato masher”)
The M43 is a modification of the M24 and matches it in size and action, although the fuze was activated in the head housing and not in the handle.
