Used M73 helmet, Cold War era.
Romanian military steel helmet. Introduced into the Romanian army since 1973, it gradually replaced the M38 and M38 / 42 models used by the Romanian army in World War II, as well as the Soviet M40 helmets used after World War II. Its shape is inspired by the M38 model which it replaced (which was a descendant of the Dutch M34 helmet). The M73 is made of top quality steel with good ballistic protection. The quality of the steel has been improved with a distinctive shape that provides sloping ramps throughout the helmet. The inner upholstery is made of leather with horsehair or felt padding inside. The chin strap has four attachment points and doubles over the chin. There is a leather flap on the back of the head that adjusts to fit the head. At the back there is a slot for attaching to a backpack. The year of manufacture and the serial number are indicated under the leather lining.
